| AverLogic
is the longest and largest FIFO provider and plans to remain so.
AverLogic announced its 3Mbit frame FIFO, AL422B, in 1998 and
has offered a Lead-Free (PBF) version (RoHS standard compliant)
since 2003, the FIFO range contributing significantly to the success
of the company. Also available in AverLogic's FIFO lineup are
the AL440B 4Mbit Video FIFO, AL4V9x/ AL4V18x series Line FIFOs,
AL4Cxx series Communication FIFOs, and AL5DAx/ AL5DSx series Dual-Port
SRAM.
What
is a FIFO?
¡§FIFO¡¨ is a type of frame memory that is used to transmit and
receive audio/ video/ graphic data. AverLogic's FIFO ICs provide
fully independent access to input and output ports that can support
a maximum speed of 80 MHz for video FIFO and 133 MHz for communication
FIFO. These devices are available in various density, bus width
and operating speed configurations. The built-in address and pointer
control circuits provide an easy-to-use bus interface that greatly
reduces design time and effort. The FIFO can work with Application-Specific
Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA),
Digital Signal Processor (DSPs) and a variety of other processors
to offer the function of buffering digital data, such as audio,
video or graphic data.
What
are examples of FIFO's applications?
The AverLogic FIFO chip's are used in a wide range of applications
such as Multimedia systems, Video capture systems, Video editing
systems, Scan rate converters, TV's picture in picture (PIP) feature,
Time base correction (TBC), Frame synchronizer, Digital video
camera, buffers for communications systems.systems.
How
could AverLogic FIFO¡¥s benefit you?
Designers can benefit by using discrete FIFO products instead
of integrated solutions to reduce implementation and debugging
efforts, reduce time to market, preserve engineering Intellectual
Properties (IP), and save development costs.
